The Fijian Cabinet has approved loan and grant agreements with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of the Fiji Critical Bridges Resilience Project. This agreement will provide Fiji with total funding of USD 134.5 million (about FJD 304.4 million). Out of this amount, USD 120 million (around FJD 271.6 million) is designated as concessional loan financing, while USD 14.5 million (approximately FJD 32.8 million) will be allocated as grant funding.
The Fiji Roads Authority has identified four bridges that need replacement as part of this initiative. The project is expected to be completed by 2031, marking a significant step towards improving infrastructure and resilience in the region.
This development not only highlights Fiji’s proactive approach to enhancing its infrastructure but also the commitment of international partners like the ADB in supporting vital projects. Such investments pave the way for improved transportation and connectivity, which are crucial for economic growth and community resilience. Looking ahead, the successful implementation of this project could significantly impact local economies and enhance the quality of life for many residents in Fiji.
