The Fijian government has approved loan and grant agreements with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of the Fiji Critical Bridges Resilience Project. This initiative will provide Fiji with a total of USD 134.5 million, which is roughly FJD 304.4 million. Out of this amount, USD 120 million (around FJD 271.6 million) will be allocated as concessional loan financing, while USD 14.5 million (approximately FJD 32.8 million) will be provided as grant financing.
The Fiji Roads Authority has pinpointed four bridges that will be replaced as part of this significant project. The completion of the project is scheduled for 2031.
This investment not only aims to enhance the safety and resilience of key infrastructure in Fiji but also reflects the government’s commitment to long-term improvements in connectivity and disaster preparedness. The focus on bridging critical gaps demonstrates proactive planning for future challenges, and the collaboration with ADB showcases an encouraging partnership for sustainable development in the region.
