The Ministry of Education is warning the public about a fraudulent announcement circulating online from a bogus website posing as the “Fiji Ministry of Education.”

This misleading message falsely states that all schools in Fiji will be closed from Wednesday, September 18, to Monday, October 6, 2024, due to a reported outbreak of monkeypox with 35 new cases allegedly confirmed.

The Ministry clarifies that this information is entirely untrue, as no school closures have been announced. All schools are open and functioning normally, with no plans for closures in place.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services, the Ministry confirms that there are no reported cases of monkeypox in Fiji, and no instructions have been issued regarding school closures or curfews from the health authorities.
