Jai Narayan College and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Primary School emerged victorious at the 2024 Vodafone Fiji National Schools Chess Championship.
Jai Narayan College, guided by Women’s Candidate Master Tanvi Prasad, secured the secondary school title with a total of 14 points. Meanwhile, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Primary School claimed the primary school division with 10 points.
Goru Arvind, the General Secretary of the Fiji Chess Federation, expressed appreciation to Vodafone Fiji for reinstating the championship, which had been on hold for five years.
In the secondary school division, Marist Brothers High School finished in second place with 11 points, while Deenbandhoo Memorial School came in second in the primary school division with 5 points.
The championship saw participation from a total of 12 school teams.
