Fiji Schools Basketball Championships Kick Off with Intense Competition

The Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championships kick off today at the Multi Purpose Court in Lautoka. Laisiasa Puamau, the Chief Operations Officer of Fiji Basketball, expressed enthusiasm over the participation, noting that 70 teams are registered for the three-day tournament.

Puamau stated, “This year, we are happy to have 70 teams register that will compete throughout the tournament in Lautoka. We’re pleased to welcome Lautoka Muslim, Votualevu College, and the return of St Thomas High School, alongside RKS which has also joined us this year.”

In the U15 Boys category, Pool A includes teams like ISS, SGS, and MBHS 2, along with CCL, ISN, and SHC, promising a competitive atmosphere. Pool B features YSS, MBHS 1, LDS, Tilak High School, and FAMS, setting up a fierce contest.

For the U15 Girls, Pool A consists of YSS, LDS, ISN, and CCL, while Pool B includes SGS, SJSS, Votualevu College, and ISS, hinting at an exciting championship ahead.

The U17 Boys division is split into three pools: Pool A features CCL, SVC, RKS, SGS, and MBHS 2; Pool B includes LDS, NHS, ISN, QVS, and ISS; and Pool C rounds out with YSS, THS, FAMS, and MBHS 1.

In the U17 Girls category, Pool A boasts a strong lineup of THS, NHS, SGS, GHS, and SJSS Blue, while Pool B includes CCL, SVC, SJSS White, YSS, and LDS, ensuring thrilling matches.

The U19 Boys division features Pool A with MBHS 1, FAMS, CCL, JWC, and QVS; Pool B showcasing YSS, SGS, Votualevu College, LMC, and MBHS 2; and Pool C comprising LDS, SVC, STHS, THS, and RKS.

For the U19 Girls, Pool A includes ACS, LDS, FAMS, and SJSS, with Pool B featuring SGS, YSS, SVC, and ISS competing for a spot in the finals.

The tournament is expected to showcase high-energy games and memorable performances, providing an exciting experience for all participants and attendees.
