Fiji Schools Basketball Championship Kicks Off with Intense Competition!

The Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championships are set to kick off today at the Multi-Purpose Court in Lautoka. Fiji Basketball Chief Operations Officer Laisiasa Puamau expressed satisfaction with the turnout, noting that 70 teams have registered to participate in the three-day tournament.

“This year, we’re excited to see 70 teams competing in Lautoka,” Puamau stated. “We welcome new schools like Lautoka Muslim and Votualevu College, and it’s great to see the return of St Thomas High School along with RKS joining us this year.”

In the Under-15 boys category, Pool A includes strong teams such as ISS, SGS, and MBHS 2, along with CCL, ISN, and SHC. Pool B will feature teams like YSS, MBHS 1, LDS, Tilak High School, and FAMS, setting the stage for intense competition.

For the Under-15 girls, Pool A consists of YSS, LDS, ISN, and CCL, while Pool B includes SGS, SJSS, Votualevu College, and ISS, ensuring a closely contested championship.

The Under-17 boys division is split into three pools: Pool A with CCL, SVC, RKS, SGS, and MBHS 2; Pool B with LDS, NHS, ISN, QVS, and ISS; and Pool C featuring YSS, THS, FAMS, and MBHS 1.

In the Under-17 girls category, Pool A showcases a competitive mix of THS, NHS, SGS, GHS, and SJSS Blue, while Pool B includes CCL, SVC, SJSS White, YSS, and LDS, promising exciting matches.

The Under-19 boys Pool A consists of MBHS 1, FAMS, CCL, JWC, and QVS. Pool B includes YSS, SGS, Votualevu College, LMC, and MBHS 2, while Pool C features LDS, SVC, STHS, THS, and Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS).

In the Under-19 girls category, Pool A comprises ACS, LDS, FAMS, and SJSS, while Pool B includes SGS, YSS, SVC, and ISS, all competing for a place in the finals.

The event is anticipated to offer high-energy games, exceptional performances, and unforgettable moments for players and fans alike.
