The Vodafone Fiji Schoolboys rugby team is set for an exciting match against the Australian Schoolboys this Saturday at 6 pm at Lawaqa Park. Head coach Peniona Ranitu expresses confidence in the team’s discipline and leadership as they gear up for the encounter.
Ranitu emphasized the strength of the team, highlighting their discipline and strong leadership. The squad largely consists of players from the Vodafone Super Deans Championship-winning Queen Victoria School Under-18 team, with fourteen players contributing to the squad’s cohesion.
“Having the core of the team from QVS makes our job easier. We are grateful for the work rate they’ve shown,” Ranitu stated. While acknowledging that the Australian Schoolboys will be formidable opponents, the Fijian team is focused on delivering a solid performance.
Ranitu believes the team’s balance and strategy, especially in countering the Australians’ powerful forwards, will be crucial. “We have a good combination of players,” he noted. The team’s primary focus is on effectively defending against the Australian forwards, refining their lineouts, and improving their mauls.
With discipline, teamwork, and thorough preparation at their core, the Fiji Schoolboys are determined to achieve a positive outcome on home ground.
