The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League (FSSRL) competition is set to kick off after its official launch at Albert Park in Suva this morning. FSSRL president Naisa Toko emphasized that rugby league in Fiji has evolved beyond mere sport; it now represents a viable career pathway and a platform for local talent to excel.

During the launch, Toko addressed the assembled team captains, urging them to approach the upcoming season with pride, dedication, and ambition. He highlighted the rapid growth of rugby league throughout the Pacific and reminded the players that they should not take this tournament lightly.

“Compete with pride and honor for your respective schools and teams,” Toko stated. “Rugby league is no longer just a sport, but a business—a career opportunity for players looking to compete on the world stage. So get ready to give your best and make your schools proud.”

As anticipation builds, the first round of matches across various zones is scheduled to commence this weekend, marking the beginning of an exciting season for aspiring young athletes in Fiji. The competition promises to showcase the skills and determination of the players, potentially opening doors for future opportunities both locally and internationally.
