The Fiji Police Mpaisa task force has successfully charged two individuals in relation to a financial deception case involving a mobile money transfer application.
According to a police statement, the accused, who reside in Davuilevu and Koronivia, allegedly conspired to defraud victims through a rental car scam. The accused individuals, a 29-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, have been charged with obtaining financial advantage by deception and dishonestly dealing with personal financial information. They are expected to appear in the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.
This case illustrates the ongoing vigilance of law enforcement in addressing financial scams and protecting consumers from fraud. While the actions of the accused have led to unfortunate losses for victims, their apprehension serves as a reminder to the public about the importance of being cautious and verifying information before making payments, especially in the digital landscape.
