Fiji Rugby Union Race: Who Will Lead the Charge?

A number of prominent individuals are competing for roles in the newly formed management board of the Fiji Rugby Union. These candidates have been nominated by various Provincial Unions and have undergone a vetting process by the nominations committee, which has led to a final shortlist.

This development aligns with the implementation of a new constitution aimed at advancing the Fiji Rugby Union. Representatives from the Provincial Unions will gather this Saturday at the Annual General Meeting in Suva to elect suitable candidates for various positions on the management board.

The roles up for election include Commercial Director, Women Director, Rugby Director, Legal Director, and Finance Director. Among the notable candidates are Mark Evans, the CEO of Fijian Drua; Ilivasi Tabua, former head coach of the Flying Fijians; Koli Sewabu, a former trainer for World Rugby; finance professional John Sanday; banker Tony Ram; media expert Stanley Simpson; prominent lawyer Isireli Fa; and the first captain of the Fijiana team, Lajipa Naulivou.

As the Fiji Rugby Union heads toward a new chapter, this election represents an opportunity for fresh leadership and innovative ideas that could propel Fiji rugby to greater heights.
