Fiji rugby supporters are celebrating a fantastic debut from Viliame Mata, who scored a try for the Bristol Bears in their impressive 48-24 victory against Harlequins in the Gallagher Premiership. Joining Mata on the score sheet was fellow Fijian centre Kalaveti Ravouvou, contributing to the Bears’ success.

In France’s Top 14, veteran player Levani Botia made his long-awaited season debut for La Rochelle, although the team faced a setback with a 23-14 defeat against Vannes. Botia, along with former Wallabies winger Suliasi Vunivalu, both returned to action from injuries sustained last season. Salesi Rayasi also showcased his talents with Vannes in this match.

In other matches, Peceli Yato showed his strength in lock for Clermont as they dominated Castres with a decisive 54-10 win, where Vilimoni Botitu scored and converted Castres’ only try. Meanwhile, Josua Tuisova played at No.12 and Vinaya Habosi took the wing for Racing 92, who narrowly lost 21-17 to Toulouse. After serving a suspension, Semi Radradra played at centre for Lyon, but they fell to Pau with a score of 29-15.

On a bright note, utility back Seta Tuicuvu was part of the Toulon squad, which secured a victory against USA Perpignan, featuring Alivereti Duguivalu.

This week showcases the resilience and determination of Fijian players, many of whom are making their comebacks from injuries. Their tenacity on the field bodes well for their futures in the sport. The spirit of Fijian rugby remains strong, resonating hope and excitement among fans as more players return to their peak performance levels.
