Mosese Naura has made a remarkable entry into the Fiji Airways men’s rugby sevens squad for the upcoming HSBC Vancouver 7s tournament, marking a significant milestone in his young career. A month ago, Naura expressed his aspiration to join the national team, and he has achieved this goal following a strong performance during the Coral Coast 7s tournament, where he was scouted by head coach Osea Kolinisau.

Naura’s rapid ascent continues the rich tradition of developing talent within Fiji’s rugby community. The 22-year-old winger is among six players who have joined the squad after the Perth 7s and represents a wave of fresh energy that the team is looking to harness. Alongside Naura, team captain Jeremaia Matana and Sevuloni Mocenacagi have returned from injuries, further strengthening Fiji’s lineup.

Fiji’s roster will include notable players like Ilikimi Torosi and Waisea Nacuqu, who will contribute both experience and skill on the field. The final squad will face off in Pool C against formidable opponents, including Spain, Uruguay, and the USA. Fiji’s first match is scheduled against Uruguay at 7:18 am on February 22.

As Naura trains vigorously with the squad, his positive attitude and determination reflect a commitment not only to improve personally but also to elevate the team’s overall performance. This is an exciting time for Fiji rugby, with a blend of emerging talent and seasoned veterans rejoining the squad, all aiming for success on the international stage.

With the Vancouver 7s set to run from February 22 to 24, there is a growing sense of optimism. The combined strength of the team and the enthusiasm that newcomers like Naura bring could lead to impressive performances, holding promise for the future of Fijian rugby.
