Bukayaro stated, “We learned a lot about our weaknesses from the Perth 7s tournament,” reinforcing the team’s determination to continue pursuing the series title despite their recent challenges. A key focus during training has been on discipline, as the squad aims to minimize unnecessary penalties and errors that contributed to their struggles in Perth.
“Our work is centered on improving our defense and, importantly, our discipline, which impacted our performance at the last tournament,” he noted. The team has also identified shortcomings in their execution, especially in terms of converting scoring opportunities into points.
“We trust in the training process, and we are concentrating on aspects we did not effectively showcase on the field, like careless passing,” Bukayaro explained, acknowledging that numerous missed chances significantly influenced their losses. The goal heading into the Vancouver tournament is clear: to capitalize on opportunities and sharpen their finishing skills.
He affirmed, “We had given away most of our opportunities, which made us lose the game. So, we will try to improve on that and make use of our opportunities heading to Vancouver.” With the Vancouver 7s set to commence next Saturday, the team remains united in its objective of clinching the series title, stating confidently, “We are not backing down as we all have one common goal to achieve when the 7s series wraps up this year.”
