Jioji Nasova, the rover for Fiji’s men’s rugby sevens team, has been confirmed to play at the Paris Olympic Games, taking place from July 26 to August 11, after making his debut in the HSBC SVNS series this year. This will be a special appearance for the 23-year-old who made his debut during the Hong Kong Sevens.
Expressing his excitement, Nasova said, “I’m honored and thankful to the coaches who believe in me enough to let me represent Fiji in this prestigious competition, the Olympics.” Nasova and his team intend to defend Fiji’s consecutive gold medal wins and aim to secure a third victory.
A Toge, Ba native, Nasova had a brief stint with Beijing RC in 2023 after being spotted whilst playing for Dominion Brothers. His career began in earnest at the Suva 10s before a Chinese coach scouted him, leading to a one-year contract. Nasova’s educational journey included Toge Primary School, Nukuloa College, and Ba Provincial Freebird Institute where he played rugby league prior to being selected for the Naitasiri Under-20 team in the Skipper Cup competition.
