Fiji Rugby Set for Thrilling Clash Against Scotland in 2025!

The Fiji Rugby Union has announced that the Fiji Water Flying Fijians will face Scotland in a Test match scheduled for July 12, 2025, at 3 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This match marks the 13th meeting between the two teams, with their historical rivalry beginning on September 25, 1982.

Head coach Mick Byrne recently returned from a trip to the UK and France and expressed his excitement about the upcoming match. The Flying Fijians are currently evaluating a pool of 80 players as they prepare for key matches throughout the year. Byrne highlighted a great mixture of talent from both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and emphasized the ongoing discussions regarding player selection as the test dates approach.

“Having Scotland playing on our home ground with a strong squad will be fantastic,” Byrne remarked, underlining the significance of the match in Fiji’s preparations for future competitions, particularly for 2025.

This encounter will also be crucial as it represents Scotland’s first visit to Fiji since 2017. Fiji has recorded significant victories over Scotland in the past, including a notable 51-26 win in 1998. In their most recent matchup, Fiji narrowly lost 57-17 during the Autumn Nations Test Series held in November.

Additionally, the Flying Fijians will kick off the year with a match against the Australian Wallabies on July 5 in Newcastle, followed by hosting Tonga for the Pacific Nations Cup opener on August 30. The series of matches suggests a busy and promising year for Fiji Rugby, reinforcing their commitment to enhancing their international presence.

Fans can look forward to an exciting display of athleticism and cultural exchange through these international fixtures, showcasing Fijian rugby’s legacy and the communal spirit around the sport. The anticipation surrounding these matches embodies a positive outlook for the future of Fiji Rugby on the global stage.
