Fiji Rugby Player and Nihon University Student Sekove Tagicakiverata’s Sudden Death Shocks Community

The unexpected death of Sekove Tagicakiverata, a Fiji rugby player studying at Nihon University in Tokyo, Japan, has left the community in shock. Tagicakiverata was admitted to hospital last Thursday and unfortunately, he passed away the following day.

Sevens maestro, Waisale Serevi, expressed his sorrow on Facebook, stating, “I have faced challenging times in my life and never asked God why, because His plans are better than mine.”

As an alumnus of Marist Brothers High School, Tagicakiverata stood out on the rugby field playing for Eastern Saints and Covenant Brothers in the Suva Rugby Union club competition. His friends described him as tireless and humorous, both during games and outside the field. His skills led many spectators to predict a promising future for him in the sport.

In addition to his passion for rugby, Tagicakiverata was also part of the Officers Cadet training in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces. The cause of his death is still unknown.
