Fiji Rugby Player and Nihon University Student Sekove Tagicakiverata’s Sudden Death Shocks Community

The community of Nihon University in Tokyo, Japan was deeply shocked by the sudden death of a Fiji rugby player studying there last Friday. Sekove Tagicakiverata was urgently taken to hospital last Thursday, where he died the following day.

Tagicakiverata, a former student of Marist Brothers High School, was a well-known figure in the rugby scene. He was renowned as a utility back for Eastern Saints and Covenant Brothers in the Suva Rugby Union club competition. Off the field, he was celebrated by his friends as a friendly, hardworking young man.

Following the news of his passing, Waisale Serevi, a Fijian rugby sevens legend, made a profound statement on his Facebook page. He reflected on enduring hardships in life and maintaining faith in the divine plan.

Many who observed Tagicakiverata’s impressive skills on the rugby field saw a promising future in the sport for him. Additionally, he was notably part of the Officer Cadet training under the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
