Friends and colleagues are mourning the loss of Waisea Mataitoga, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 42. Former Fijiana sevens head coach Saiasi Fuli expressed deep sorrow over his passing, highlighting Mataitoga’s passion and dedication to his work.
Mataitoga was the manager of the SportsWorld Fiji Under-20 team at the time of his death, and had briefly served as the Fijiana 7s manager from late 2022 to 2023, where he collaborated closely with Fuli. “He brought joy to everyone around him,” Fuli remembered, noting Mataitoga’s infectious laughter and positive outlook on life.
