Fiji Rugby Legend Waisale Serevi Hospitalized: What Happened?

Fiji 7s rugby legend Waisale Serevi has been hospitalized in India due to chest pains. Serevi, who serves as the head coach for both the men’s and women’s 7s teams, recently led the women’s team to a silver medal at the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy in Nepal. He was admitted to the hospital on October 10.

Rugby India announced via social media, “We wish our 7s Head Coach, Waisale Serevi, all the very best in his recovery. We shall provide another update in 24 hours.” The statement added, “For now he is stable and in excellent spirits.”

According to Manipal Hospital, where Serevi is receiving treatment, a coronary angiogram has indicated minor coronary artery disease. The hospital reported that he is stable and is expected to be moved out of the ICU soon.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has also conveyed his heartfelt wishes for Serevi’s swift and complete recovery, emphasizing that “Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Get well soon.”
