The Minister of Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, announced that the Fiji Rugby Union trustees are ready to look into allegations of corruption and delayed payments, provided that players can present concrete evidence. Speaking in Parliament, Saukuru acknowledged the claims made by the players but emphasized that substantial proof has not yet been offered to support these allegations.
The trustees are willing to forward credible information to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) or the police for further investigation. While they are concerned about the issues raised by the players, the trustees highlighted the necessity of having proper evidence before proceeding with any actions. Additionally, Saukuru confirmed that all players who represented Fiji in the 2023 Rugby World Cup have received full compensation from the Fiji Rugby Union.
