Fiji’s rugby community is mourning the loss of Reverend Tuikoro Kolinisau, the beloved father of Fiji Men’s 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau, who passed away on February 14 at the age of 63. The emotional eulogy delivered by Osea at the funeral service held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva reflected the deep bond he shared with his father, expressing, “Ta I love you, I miss you so much.” Osea, who was in Vancouver with the Fiji 7s team when he received the news, recalled how his father was a pivotal influence throughout his life, particularly in his rugby career.
Reverend Kolinisau was the founder of the Kingdom Ambassador International Fellowship and was known for his resilient faith, integrity, and dedication to his community. Family, friends, and members of the rugby community came together to pay their respects, highlighting the profound impact of Reverend Kolinisau’s life. Dignitaries such as the Minister for Lands, Filimoni Vosarogo, and Opposition Leader, Inia Seruiratu, also attended the service, showcasing the wide-reaching respect he commanded.
Osea noted that every success he achieved, including leading his team to their first Olympic gold medal in 2016, could be traced back to his father’s guidance, emphasizing that without his father’s support, none of it would have been possible. Today, as Reverend Kolinisau is laid to rest at the Vatuwaqa Cemetery, his legacy of faith and service will continue to inspire those he touched throughout his life.
This moment serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of family and the enduring legacies that loved ones leave behind. The heartfelt tributes and the support from the rugby community exemplify the strength and unity present in times of grief, offering a hopeful message that even in loss, we can celebrate the lives of those who made significant contributions to their communities.
