Long wait times, road congestion, and safety concerns are pressing Fiji’s transport sector towards significant reforms. Ro Filipe Tuisawau, the Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services, highlighted that customers currently spend an average of 33 minutes at a Land Transport Authority (LTA) office for transactions, with licence renewals extending up to 41 minutes. This inefficiency results in over 47,000 hours spent each year, not accounting for travel time.

During the launch of the LTA’s newly revamped e-services platform and website, Ro Filipe announced that the Government has invested $15.4 million over the past three years to modernize infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and alleviate pressure on LTA offices.

The upgraded NODA LTA platform enables customers to handle key services online, such as license renewals and payments, drastically reducing the necessity for in-person visits. Ro Filipe projected that by mid-2026, at least half of all licence renewals will be processed online, promising to alleviate congestion at LTA branches and foster greater efficiency within the transport system.

This transition not only stands to benefit residents by saving time and streamlining processes but also reflects a growing commitment to embrace technology to meet the demands of a modernizing society. As Fiji progresses towards a more efficient transport service, the initiative serves as a hopeful illustration of meaningful change in public service delivery.
