Twenty recycling bins have been distributed across communities in Serua Province as part of an initiative aimed at improving waste management and addressing climate challenges. The delivery included eight bins for Nabukelevu Village, two for Nabukelevu District School, and five bins each for Naboutini and Nakorovou Villages.

This handover coincided with the celebration of World Wetlands Day, which took place in Nabukelevu. In addition to the recycling bins, the Ministry of Environment also provided school supplies to Nabukelevu District School, underscoring its commitment to both environmental stewardship and education.

The official handover was conducted by the Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Lynda Tabuya, alongside the British High Commissioner to Fiji, Kanbar Hossein-Bor. During the event, Tabuya emphasized the importance of environmental protection, proper waste disposal, and the adoption of sustainable habits among students.

Staff at the school expressed their gratitude for the support, noting that the supplies will benefit over 70 students, helping to enhance their learning experience. This initiative not only addresses pressing environmental issues but also supports educational development within the community, fostering a future generation that is more aware of sustainability practices.
