Fiji Roads Flooded: 4×4-Only Access on Key Routes as FRA Warns

The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has issued a warning to motorists and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution due to significant flooding affecting several major roads in the Central and Eastern divisions. Following persistent heavy rain over the past day, many roads are inundated, making travel hazardous.

In an update released on 16 November 2025, the FRA indicated that certain routes are only accessible to 4×4 vehicles due to severe surface flooding. Responding teams are actively addressing other hazards, including debris blocking roads, such as a fallen tree on Grantham Road.

Currently, Kings Road is closed at Vesida due to heavy flooding, and a traffic management plan has been implemented on Kings Road, diverting vehicles to alternative routes like Wainivula Road. Additional affected areas include Foster Road near Amra Junction, Cunningham Road, and sections of Jerusalem Road close to the Mobil Service Station. Other routes, including Vidal Avenue and Fletcher Road, remain accessible solely to 4×4 vehicles.

FRA authorities urge the public to avoid flooded crossings and to drive slowly while adhering to all traffic signs and temporary management directives. Motorists are reminded to maintain safe speed limits and stay vigilant during low-visibility conditions.

The FRA continues to monitor the situation closely and is committed to providing ongoing updates as weather-related impacts on the road network develop. Amid these challenging circumstances, the community’s resilience and cooperation are vital as they navigate through these temporary setbacks. The proactive measures taken by the FRA underscore their commitment to public safety, ensuring that residents are well-informed and prepared to deal with the risks associated with flooding.
