Apisai Ketenilagi has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Fiji Roads Authority, starting on January 2, 2025, for a term of three years. This decision was made by the FRA Board in accordance with the Fiji Roads Authority Act of 2012.
To ensure the selection of the most qualified candidate for the CEO position, the Board employed KPMG through its internal Procurement Department for recruitment support. The position was advertised according to FRA’s recruitment policies, and Ketenilagi was chosen based on recommendations from a three-member panel consisting of FRA Board Members.
With more than 30 years of experience in road infrastructure engineering, Ketenilagi has played a pivotal role in various projects involving highways, rural roads, bridges, marine structures, construction, and asset maintenance. His qualifications are notable; he holds a Master of Science in Highway Management and Engineering, an International Masters in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Engineering, and a Diploma in Civil Engineering. In addition, he is affiliated with esteemed professional engineering organizations across Australia, the UK, the USA, Asia, and Australasia.
FRA Board Chairman Atunaisa Nayago expressed his confidence in Ketenilagi’s abilities, stating that he brings significant expertise to the role, making him well-suited to lead the FRA into the future. Nayago remarked, “The Board is confident in Apisai’s ability to strengthen the FRA’s performance and deliver on our commitment to providing safe and sustainable infrastructure for Fiji.”
