A 16-year-old boy from Nadi has tragically become the latest suspected drowning victim in Fiji. The incident occurred yesterday morning when the teenager was swimming in the Narewa River along with a group of friends.

During their swim, the young boy experienced difficulties, prompting his friends to act quickly. They managed to pull him from the water and attempted to perform CPR; however, despite their efforts, they were unable to revive him. He was subsequently rushed to Nadi Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations are currently underway to determine the circumstances of this unfortunate incident. This event serves as a reminder of the potential dangers of swimming in rivers and highlights the importance of water safety, especially among young people.
