Outsource Fiji, the industry body for the country’s outsourcing sector, has praised its member operators for their active participation in the recent showcase. Their engaging and interactive booth has highlighted Fiji’s transformation into an emerging center of skilled talent and digital capability, moving beyond its image as a tropical holiday destination.

Josefa Wivou, Executive Director of Outsource Fiji, articulated that the initiative aligns with their strategic plan for 2021-2025, which focuses on industry growth, investment promotion, and workforce development. He noted that the showcase serves as an opportunity to directly connect with job seekers, students, and businesses, helping to bridge the gap between available opportunities and awareness of the outsourcing field.

Mr. Wivou emphasized the importance of direct engagement in demystifying the outsourcing industry and making it accessible to youth and those looking for new career paths. He underscored the role of such showcases in building a talent pipeline and attracting investments to Fiji’s services sector.

Pravin Narain, a marketing and communications consultant for Outsource Fiji, reaffirmed that the diversity among member operators—from customer service to IT—demonstrates Fiji’s potential as a serious outsourcing destination. He mentioned that collaborating as a united front not only showcases the strengths of the operators but also contributes to job creation and industry expansion.

The Fiji Showcase is ongoing, ending on June 28, and is expected to foster more meaningful connections and opportunities for local talent in the outsourcing industry.

Reflecting on similar past events, it is evident that the Fijian outsourcing sector is steadily gaining recognition as a viable option for companies in Australia and New Zealand, bolstered by the resilience shown during challenging times such as the pandemic. This perspective presents a hopeful outlook for both the industry and the wider economic landscape of Fiji, underlining the importance of continued support and innovation to create sustainable employment opportunities for its workforce.

The future looks bright for the outsourcing sector in Fiji, not only in attracting international clients but also in empowering local communities and contributing to economic resilience.
