The Ministry of Education has announced the revival of interviews for Year 13 students looking to enter the teaching profession. This collaborative effort involves Teacher Training Institutions (TTIs), the Fiji Teacher’s Registration Authority (FTRA), the Higher Education Commission Fiji (HECF), and the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS). The initiative aims to improve the quality of teacher recruitment and training throughout Fiji.
Education Minister Aseri Radrodro highlighted the necessity of a robust selection process to attract candidates who are both enthusiastic and qualified for teaching roles. This initiative aligns with the 2024-2033 Denarau Declaration, which aims to strengthen the collaborative relationships between various stakeholders and the Ministry of Education.
The Denarau Declaration is designed to ensure that graduates possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for success in classrooms across Fiji. Eligible students have the opportunity to apply for scholarships under the Merit-Based Higher Education (Level 7 Local Scheme) and the Minimum Cut-Off Mark Scheme, which cover various Bachelor of Education programs, including specialized fields such as Early Childhood Education, Counseling, and Industrial Arts.
The application deadline for online submissions to TSLS is set for January 31, 2025. Successful applicants will receive notifications regarding their interview dates and locations through email and phone communication.
