Pio Tikoduadua, the Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, announced the launch of Fiji’s National Security and Defense Review (NSDR) at the Grand Pacific Hotel today. During the event, he highlighted the necessity for reforms within Fiji’s security institutions, emphasizing the importance of rebuilding trust among the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, the Fiji Police Force, civil society, and the private sector.
The NSDR report identifies accountability, transparency, and civilian oversight as fundamental components. It presents a people-centered security strategy that prioritizes justice, human rights, and social cohesion. The Minister urged for a comprehensive approach that involves the whole of Government and society, integrating human rights, gender equality, and social inclusion into national security strategies.
