The Coalition Government has reintroduced school chaplains in an effort to address the rising social issues among youth in Fiji.

According to a statement from the Cabinet, funding for these positions will be provided through the Ministry of Education for government schools. Additionally, the Cabinet has approved a cost-sharing arrangement to support chaplains in non-government schools using the Free Education Grant.

A school chaplain is defined as a cleric or a lay representative of a religious organization who is affiliated with a school. The school chaplains will operate in accordance with the School Chaplaincy Policy.
