Registrar of Political Parties Ana Mataiciwa has announced the rejection of the registration application submitted by the proposed NextGen Alliance Party. In evaluating the application, she determined that the party did not meet the minimum membership requirements in the Northern, Western, and Central Divisions of Fiji.
Following the assessment, Mataiciwa has formally communicated this decision to the party’s representatives, specifying the legal criteria that were not fulfilled. She emphasized that the registration process for political parties adheres to well-established legal standards, which aim to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance within Fiji’s electoral framework.
Mataiciwa reiterated that all applications are evaluated consistently according to the law. The NextGen Alliance Party has the option to appeal the Registrar’s decision within 14 days of receiving notification.
Furthermore, she affirmed that the Fiji Elections Office (FEO) is dedicated to assisting applicants in understanding the registration process and ensuring that all necessary steps are appropriately undertaken while maintaining the integrity of the political party registration framework.
The proposed party had originally filed its application on November 21, 2025. This decision not only underscores the importance of adhering to legal requirements but also highlights the commitment of the FEO to uphold electoral integrity in the country.
