The Fiji Referees Association has received new officiating kits for 2025, marking an important development for referees in local rugby competitions this year. The kits, sponsored by Rooster Chicken, aim to enhance the professionalism and confidence of officials as they fulfill their vital roles in the sport.

Fiji Rugby Board Chairman John Sanday expressed his appreciation for Rooster Chicken’s support, which allows referees to concentrate on their responsibilities on the field. He emphasized that referees play an essential part in upholding the laws of the game and ensuring fair play, similar to the crucial roles of players. The new high-quality uniforms enhance the credibility and respect referees receive during matches.

Rooster Chicken’s CEO, Stanley Raniga, reiterated their commitment to supporting Fiji rugby through investment in referees, stating, “From community games to the professional arena, this partnership reflects our commitment to the sport and the officials who keep it fair and true.”

The officiating kits will be used in various FRU-affiliated tournaments across the country, including the Women’s Rugby Franchise, Skipper Cup, Vodafone Vanua Cup, Marama Cup, Royal Tea Ranadi Cup, Inkk Farebrother Cup, Vodafone Deans, and Weet-Bix Raluve Competition, as well as local 7’s competitions and Super Rugby Pacific matches.

This initiative not only strengthens the infrastructure for refereeing in Fiji but also aligns with ongoing improvements in the referee development program, which has shown promising results, including increased representation of female referees. The support from corporate sponsors like Rooster Chicken showcases a growing commitment to the advancement of officiating standards, reflecting a hopeful trajectory for Fiji rugby officiating.

The Fiji Referees Association is enthusiastic about the upcoming year of high-level officiating, signaling a positive outlook for the sport.
