The Fiji Red Cross Society has begun its efforts to assist communities in the western region of Fiji that have been impacted by recent flooding. In response to the crisis, they emphasize the critical importance of clean water, especially given the elevated risk of diseases like typhoid and diarrhoea during such emergencies.

Recognizing the pressing need for clean drinking water in evacuation centers, particularly in Nadi, the Fiji Red Cross has collaborated with Frezco Beverages Pte Ltd, which generously contributed 100 cartons of Fijian Artesian Water. This donation aims to support families currently in distress.

Additionally, volunteers from the Fiji Red Cross in Tavua are actively working to aid those sheltered at the Tavua District School evacuation center. Their efforts include the distribution of dignity kits and black packs, providing essential supplies to families in need.

Beyond the distribution of these crucial items, the volunteers are also engaging in community education. They are conducting awareness sessions focused on preventing illnesses such as Leptospirosis, Dengue Fever, Diarrhea, and Typhoid, ensuring that families are informed and equipped to safeguard their health during this challenging time.

This initiative by the Fiji Red Cross not only highlights their commitment to immediate relief efforts but also signifies a broader dedication to community health and education in the wake of natural disasters.

Summary: The Fiji Red Cross Society is providing essential aid to communities affected by flooding in the western region of Fiji, focusing on clean water access and health education. Their collaboration with local businesses and tireless volunteer efforts aim to support families in distress, demonstrating the positive impact of community solidarity in response to crises.
