The Fiji Red Cross Society has mobilized its resources to aid communities in the western region affected by recent flooding. Recognizing the critical need for clean water amid the crisis, the organization is addressing heightened health risks, particularly the potential outbreaks of diseases such as typhoid and diarrhea.
In Nadi, evacuation centers have been identified as needing immediate water supplies. In response, the Japan-based beverage company Frezco Beverages Pte Ltd generously donated 100 cartons of 1.5 liters of Fijian H2O- Fijian Artesian Water to assist the families in distress.
Further support in Tavua has seen dedicated Red Cross volunteers actively involved in relief efforts at the Tavua District School evacuation center. The team has begun distributing essential dignity kits and black packs, offering much-needed support to affected families during this challenging time.
In addition to providing physical supplies, these volunteers have also hosted awareness workshops to educate the community on the prevention of diseases such as Leptospirosis, Dengue Fever, Diarrhea, and Typhoid, highlighting the importance of proactive health measures during such emergencies.
This initiative by the Fiji Red Cross reflects a strong commitment to community resilience and support in times of crisis, showcasing the power of local and corporate partnerships in tackling urgent needs.
The collaborative efforts not only provide immediate relief but empower the community with knowledge, fostering hope for recovery and a healthier future.
