The Fiji Red Cross Society has launched its Restoring Family Links (RFL) service to assist those in Fiji trying to connect with their loved ones in Vanuatu. This international humanitarian initiative, part of the Red Cross Movement, aims to reunite families separated by disasters or emergencies.
Director General Ragigia Dawai expressed deep sympathy for the people of Vanuatu during this challenging time, emphasizing Fiji’s commitment as a supportive neighbor in the Pacific region. “Our Restoring Family Links service exists to bridge that painful gap when communications are cut off, and to offer hope and comfort to those affected,” he stated.
The RFL service enables the Fiji Red Cross Society to help individuals by initiating searches for missing family members in Vanuatu, providing updates and messages to families once communication resumes, and offering emotional support during this stressful period. Fiji Red Cross teams are collaborating closely with the Vanuatu Red Cross Society and international organizations to ensure families receive timely assistance and vital information.
Fijians having trouble reaching their relatives in Vanuatu are urged to contact the Fiji Red Cross Society at the following:
– Phone: +679 9715895
– Email: salote.tupou@redcross.com.fj
– Visit: FRCS Headquarters, Gorrie Street, Suva
This initiative represents a beacon of hope for countless families during a time of crisis, reaffirming the importance of community support and international cooperation in overcoming adversity.
The hopeful message is that even in the face of challenges, there are dedicated organizations ready to help reunite families and provide the necessary support to heal and reconnect.
