The Fiji Government has expressed its commitment to supporting the Fiji National Rugby League as the country prepares for the 2024 Pacific Championships. During a recent visit from FNRL chairman Akuila Masi and his team, Jese Saukuru, the Minister for Youth and Sports, assured them of the government’s backing.

The purpose of the visit was to brief the Minister on the upcoming plans and programs related to the prestigious championship, which will take place over four consecutive weekends in October and November across four countries. This marks the first time Fiji will host matches in the Pacific Championships, expanding the event’s regional presence.

In addition to Fiji, matches will be conducted at Santos Stadium in Port Moresby, as well as in Brisbane, Christchurch, Auckland, and Sydney. The Fiji Bati, currently ranked 6th in the world rugby league standings, is expected to announce their team for the championship this Friday, or at the latest, by next Wednesday.
