The Fiji Government has announced its support for the Fiji National Rugby League as the preparations for the 2024 Pacific Championships gain momentum. During a recent visit from FNRL chairman Akuila Masi and his team, Jese Saukuru, the Minister for Youth and Sports, expressed this commitment. The visit was intended to provide the Minister with updates on the plans and programs leading up to the prestigious championship, scheduled to take place over four consecutive weekends in October and November across four countries.
This will mark the first time that Fiji will host matches in the Pacific Championships, enhancing the event’s presence in the region. In addition to Fiji, matches are set to occur at Santos Stadium in Port Moresby, as well as in Brisbane, Christchurch, Auckland, and Sydney. The Fiji Bati, who are currently ranked sixth in the world rugby league standings, are expected to announce their team for the championship either on Friday or by next Wednesday at the latest.
