Minister for Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau has praised ministry officials for their significant achievement in finalizing long-overdue annual reports spanning from 2019-2020 to 2023-2024. This accomplishment, he emphasized, marks a pivotal move towards enhancing governance within the government since it assumed office in December 2022.

In his remarks, the Minister expressed gratitude to the Permanent Secretary, Heads of Departments, and staff for their hard work in addressing the backlog of reports. He pointed out that the successful completion of these documents is crucial for effective planning, maintaining accurate records of accomplishments, and facilitating the auditing of annual work program budgets by the Office of the Auditor-General.

Ro Filipe underscored the necessity of complying with parliamentary reporting mandates, acknowledging the increased responsibilities shouldered by officials engaged in the report preparation process. He reiterated that all ministries and corporate statutory authorities are required to submit updated annual reports for evaluation by parliamentary committees, highlighting that this practice promotes transparency, integrity, and accountability in the public sector.

The Minister assured that the outstanding annual reports will soon be presented to both Cabinet and Parliament, reinforcing the commitment to governance and oversight. This initiative not only strengthens the foundation of public administration but also inspires confidence among citizens regarding the management of public resources.
