Fiji Prisons Uncover Major Drug Smuggling Tactics

Spread the love

The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) has intensified its battle against illicit drugs within the prison system. Today, during a routine search at the Naboro prison farm, authorities uncovered a plastic bag filled with significant amounts of marijuana and suki. This discovery occurred outside the main prison facility.

FCS Deputy Commissioner Auta Moceisuva noted that there is an emerging trend where drugs are being dropped off at farms and other sites where inmates are assigned for work. In response to this evolving tactic used by smugglers, the FCS has reinforced security measures within the prison perimeters. This step is expected to alter the operational strategies employed to combat drug smuggling and to potentially outsmart those attempting to breach prison security.

Moceisuva emphasized the FCS’s commitment to eradicating drug smuggling and called on the public to collaborate with their efforts in preventing drugs from entering the prison system.

This proactive stance by the Fiji Corrections Service offers a glimmer of hope in the ongoing fight against drug-related crime within the penal system. By tightening security and seeking public cooperation, FCS aims to create a safer environment for both inmates and the broader community, ultimately fostering rehabilitation and reducing recidivism.
