President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu has called upon leaders, political supporters, and citizens to embody integrity and respect as the nation prepares for the upcoming elections. He highlighted that the essence of democracy involves much more than simply casting votes, underscoring the importance of fostering a political environment that encourages ideas and constructive visions rather than one marred by fear and division.
“The strength of our democracy is amplified not only by the ballot but also by the behavior of both leaders and citizens—before, during, and after elections,” Ratu Naiqama emphasized. He reiterated that respecting the rule of law is fundamental in safeguarding democratic values.
Ratu Naiqama urged those pursuing public office and engaging in public discussions, particularly supporters of various political parties and candidates, to adhere to high standards of integrity. He reminded them that maintaining respect for the nation’s multicultural society is paramount. This call for civility and principle in political dialogue is essential for nurturing a democratic culture that prioritizes inclusivity and respect among all citizens.
