Fiji Prepares to Unveil Groundbreaking Foreign Policy Strategy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing for the finalisation and launch of Fiji’s first Foreign Policy White Paper, which aims to establish the framework for advancing the nation’s strategic interests and goals.

Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua emphasized this development while discussing the 2024-2025 National Budget. She mentioned that the policy will be guided by the pillars of sovereignty, security, and prosperity.

Qereqeretabua stated that the document will be shaped by a calculated direction grounded in Fiji’s unique contexts, values, and aspirations.

With a $43.8 million allocation, Qereqeretabua affirmed that the Ministry will pursue Fiji’s foreign policy goals, which requires a flexible approach and a learning organization culture supported by streamlined systems and processes.

“This approach includes investing in the development of our workforce, systems, and infrastructure,” she remarked.
