The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is gearing up for the finalization and launch of Fiji’s first Foreign Policy White Paper, intended to outline the framework and pathway for advancing Fiji’s strategic interests and goals.
Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua emphasized this development while addressing the 2024-2025 National Budget. She noted that the policy will be guided by the pillars of sovereignty, security, and prosperity.
Qereqeretabua stated that the document will be based on a calculated direction that aligns with Fiji’s specific contexts, values, and aspirations.
With a $43.8 million allocation, Qereqeretabua mentioned that the Ministry is set to pursue Fiji’s foreign policy objectives through a mandate that necessitates agility and a culture of continuous learning, supported by streamlined systems and processes.
“This approach is backed by a modus operandi that also invests in enhancing our capabilities, including our workforce, systems, and infrastructure,” she added.
