The Fijian Government has pledged $1.3 million to facilitate the 2024 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Suva. The announcement was made by Permanent Secretary Meli Nacuva during the official opening ceremony at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
This event marks a significant milestone for Fiji, as it will host top weightlifting nations such as India, England, Malaysia, Singapore, Wales, Canada, and Sri Lanka. Featuring over 210 participants from 25 countries, the competition promises a week of intense action at the Vodafone Arena.
Nacuva highlighted the discipline, perseverance, and determination that weightlifting promotes and encouraged the Fijian community to support the athletes. He also expressed gratitude to all athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and sponsors for their commitment to ensuring the event’s success.
