Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad will head Fiji’s delegation to the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled for November 11 to 22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan. This decision was approved by the Cabinet during its meeting on Tuesday. COP29 will address various thematic areas such as climate finance, carbon markets, mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and oceans, among other critical issues. A Technical Working Group, directed by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, will provide the necessary support to prepare Fiji’s delegation for the conference.
