The Fiji Powerlifting team showcased an outstanding performance at the Oceania Regional Powerlifting Championship, securing an impressive total of 19 medals. Competing against some of the finest lifters in the region, the team’s results highlighted their unwavering determination, skill, and extensive preparation.
Notably, Vivaan Patel made a remarkable debut in the Sub-Junior category by clinching the gold medal. Vinesh Chand also excelled in the U74kg Open category, earning a bronze medal for his efforts. Additionally, Faga Varea distinguished himself during his first international competition in the U93kg Open category, bringing home silver in the Squat, Bench, and Total events. Muzammil Ali also contributed to the team’s success by winning bronze in the same category.
In the U105kg class, Viliame Lagonilakeba faced tough competition but managed to secure a bronze medal, while Kurt Wise shone in the U120kg Open category, where he claimed silver.
This noteworthy achievement signifies a pivotal moment for Fiji powerlifting, demonstrating the athletes’ dedication and hard work.
