The Fiji Powerlifting team delivered an outstanding performance at the Oceania Regional Powerlifting Championship, securing an impressive total of 19 medals. Competing against some of the region’s top athletes, their remarkable achievements showcased their hard work, skill, and determination.
Vivaan Patel made an impressive debut in the Sub-Junior category, bringing home a gold medal, while Vinesh Chand earned a bronze in the U74kg Open category. Faga Varea shone in his first international match, capturing silver in the Squat, Bench, and Total events in the U93kg Open category. Muzammil Ali also claimed bronze in the same weight class.
In the U105kg category, Viliame Lagonilakeba faced tough competition but finished with a bronze medal. Kurt Wise excelled by winning silver in the U120kg Open category.
This incredible achievement signifies a major milestone for Fiji powerlifting, reflecting the athletes’ dedication and rigorous preparation. The competition offered significant international experience, contributing positively to their development.
