The Fiji Powerlifting team is currently competing in the 2024 Oceania Regional Powerlifting Championships in Nauru, which kicked off yesterday. The athletes are participating in various weight categories, including under 74kg, under 83kg (sub-junior), under 93kg, under 105kg, and under 120kg.

The team is approaching the championship with confidence and determination, having prepared extensively to bring home gold medals. Viliame Lagonilakeba, the president of Fiji Powerlifting, highlighted their rigorous preparations, mentioning that the athletes underwent a challenging national competition in September followed by a focused six-week training program designed by Ryan Bale of Fiji Strength Systems. Lagonilakeba noted the athletes’ dedication to balancing intense training with crucial recovery, ensuring they are ready for the championship’s demands.

The organization expressed gratitude to the Government and the Fiji Sports Commission for their support in facilitating the team’s trip to Nauru.
