Fiji Powerlifting Team Gears Up for Tough Oceania Championships Challenge!

The Fiji Powerlifting Federation has officially announced a strong 10-member team for the upcoming Oceania Regional Powerlifting Championships 2014, set to take place in Nauru from October 30 to November 2. Federation President Viliame Lagonilakeba confirmed the team’s composition, which includes six athletes along with four officials.

Lagonilakeba emphasized the challenges ahead, noting that competing in Nauru will be a significant test given the country’s rich powerlifting culture and history of producing world champions, establishing them as one of the most formidable powerlifting nations globally. He expressed confidence that the athletes are well-prepared and eager to showcase their strength and skills against the top competitors in the region.

The Fiji squad consists of the following athletes: Vivaan Patel in the Men’s sub-junior U83kg category, Vinesh Chand in the Men’s Open U74kg, Faga Varea in the Men’s Open U93kg, Muzammil Ali in the Men’s Open U120kg, and team captain Kurt Wise, also in the Men’s Open U120kg.

The team officials include Head Coach Eric Jioje (non-traveling), Ryan Bale (non-traveling), Assistant Coach Salacieli Koroi (traveling), and Team Manager/Doctor Jessa May Banchod (traveling).
