The Fiji Powerlifting team delivered an outstanding performance at the Oceania Regional Powerlifting Championship, earning an impressive total of 19 medals. Competing against some of the best powerlifters in the region, the team’s remarkable achievements demonstrated their determination, skill, and hard work.
Among the notable performances, Vivaan Patel shone brightly in his debut by claiming a gold medal in the Sub-Junior category. Vinesh Chand contributed to the team’s success with a bronze medal in the U74kg Open category. Faga Varea made his mark in his first international competition, securing silver medals in the Squat, Bench, and Total events within the U93kg Open category. Muzammil Ali also excelled, taking home bronze in the same category.
In the U105kg class, Viliame Lagonilakeba faced strong competitors but managed to win a bronze medal, while Kurt Wise earned a silver in the U120kg Open category, showcasing the depth of talent within the team.
This notable achievement signifies a significant milestone for Fiji powerlifting, underscoring the athletes’ dedication and thorough preparation. The experience gained from competing on an international stage will undoubtedly benefit the athletes moving forward.
