Fiji Powerlifting Team Dominates Oceania Championship with 19 Medals!

The Fiji Powerlifting team recently made an impressive showing at the Oceania Regional Powerlifting Championship, returning home with an outstanding total of 19 medals. This remarkable achievement showcases the athletes’ determination, skill, and hard work as they competed against some of the best powerlifters in the region.

Notably, Vivaan Patel had a significant debut in the Sub-Junior category, where he clinched a gold medal. Vinesh Chand also made his mark by earning a bronze medal in the U74kg Open category. Faga Varea shone in his first international competition, securing silver in the Squat, Bench, and Total within the U93kg Open category, while Muzammil Ali captured bronze in the same weight class.

Viliame Lagonilakeba faced tough competition in the U105kg category but managed to secure a bronze medal. Meanwhile, Kurt Wise took home silver in the U120kg Open category.

This success is a major milestone for Fiji’s powerlifting community, representing not just a collection of medals, but also the athletes’ dedication and preparation, along with the invaluable international experience gained through competition.
